Story 10 of 12 in the Friday 23 October editionBytePlus previews Seedance 2.5 4K video model with 480p Draft mode
ByteDance’s enterprise cloud unit opened early access to its flagship 4K video generation model, pairing native 4K rendering with low-cost 480p storyboard previews.
BytePlus, the enterprise cloud and AI platform division of ByteDance, has unveiled Seedance 2.5 4K, the flagship video generation model in its Seedance 2.5 family. The release targets commercial studio, advertising and media production teams that require broadcast-grade output resolution rather than upscaled standard-definition clips.
To address the compute cost and latency of generating ultra-high-definition video on every prompt iteration, BytePlus built a two-stage Draft mode workflow into the model pipeline. Creators first iterate on prompt wording, camera framing, character blocking and multi-shot storyboards using fast, lower-cost 480p draft renders. Once a sequence is approved, the system renders the selected shots in native 4K resolution while preserving the composition and motion trajectories established in the draft.
Alongside the resolution jump, BytePlus states that Seedance 2.5 4K improves subtle facial micro-expressions, lighting consistency and complex physical motion over earlier Seedance releases. The model is currently open to selected enterprise accounts on BytePlus via trial access requests ahead of general API availability. BytePlus has not published public per-second or per-token API pricing.
