Cursor adds native computer use to Cloud Agents and self-hosted workers

Coding agents running on Cursor cloud machines or self-hosted macOS and Linux workers can now click, type, capture screenshots and drive desktop apps and browsers to verify their own code.

Cursor has rolled out native computer use for Cloud Agents as well as self-hosted workers running on My Machines and Team Pools across macOS and Linux. Instead of stopping at terminal commands and unit tests, an agent can launch the application it is building, click and type across desktop windows, inspect screenshots and drive Chrome or Chromium browsers and mobile emulators such as the iOS Simulator.

On self-hosted infrastructure, developers enable the capability by starting the worker CLI with the computer-use mode for personal machines or adding the pool option for shared team runners. On macOS, the CLI downloads a dedicated signed helper application (~/.cursor/cursor-computer-use/Cursor Computer Use.app, bundle ID co.anysphere.cursor-computer-use) that operates inside the active user’s graphical session once granted macOS Accessibility and Screen Recording permissions.

On Linux, the worker attaches to an X11 virtual display via the display flag and supports live desktop sharing through the share-desktop flag. When desktop sharing is enabled on cloud or Linux workers, developers can watch the agent’s screen in real time from Cursor and take over mouse and keyboard control mid-run. Cursor notes that self-hosted computer use grants full GUI access without an additional OS sandbox.
