Anthropic announced on 4 November 2026 via its official Claude Developers account that background subagents in Claude Code generate their 30-second status-line updates using Claude Haiku 5.5 from short notes rather than re-reading the subagent’s entire conversation history each cycle, cutting token consumption per status update by roughly 99% against user rate limits.
